  2. Digital Footprints and Technorati !!
The buzz around online media is getting more hype day by day because every second person is using the online media in one or the other way.
In this era of neck to neck competition ,one needs to be very keen about the market scenario if he/she wants to exist. Darwin’s Theory “Survival of the Fittest” is the basic need for any organisation to sustain in the market. They must know what are the current trends and what’s going to be the potential trends in the market. How they can convert the demands of customers into reality? What are the approaches through which they can imprint their digital footprints? So many questions and so many answers . But in my view the first and foremost thing which needs to be done is- You should be vigilant so as to monitor the market constantly and act accordingly.

    Vigilant and Constantly be Monitoring-
Once you begin to listen to the conversation & have started monitoring what others are saying about you, it’s going to open up a whole new dialogue for your business. Here is one key finding: Internet users are becoming more aware of their Digital Footprints. About 45% have searched for information about themselves online . Even I did it to calculate the ratio of my name but I won’t disclosed the figures(poor one).. :-)
This is no more about Santa- naughty character. Half of the population present on internet is doing their own ego-surf to see what the score & count is. And while this may, indeed, be a simple vanity search, managing your personal & Company brand in the era of dominant social engines & our own desires to connect through social network is becoming a big challenge .
Unlike footprints left in the sand at the beach, the online data trails often stick around for a longer period of time even after the tide has gone out. For doing this there are tools , your task is to set a regular maneuver to keep on knowing what’s going on. You must be increasingly vigilant in your efforts & know what to look for & how to respond. Customer Service just went beyond the one to one connection & is now being played out online where interaction is live, hot , direct and most important in the public view -forever.

Google Alert & Technorati are the two tools to mark your digital footprints. But my preference is Technorati. While having your Watch-lists enabled to monitor what people are saying about you on the blog, Technorati also offers two other tools- Ranking & Authority.

Ranking- The rankings given by Technorati are based on an odd concoction of how websites & blogs link to a specific blog - the more links & references , the higher the rankings.
If you have a blog of your own, make sure you have claimed it in Technorati. But it doesn’t mean that you should only focus on higher-ranked blogs. It’s a way to know the size of your audience & to check your popularity.
Authority - It’s number of blogs clicking to a website in last 6 months. The higher the number, the more Technorati Authority the blog has.
And when you become more engaged in these conversations , you’ll observe 2 things-

    1. As with its own algorithm, blog ranking is considered as an significant way to know your digital footprints. To use it more effectively, I would recommend to stay tuned on current & on who is connecting in Technorati.

    2. It also uses Tag Clouds. By visualising the words that are used to create a piece of content you can calculate your presence. The more the frequency of word , more will be your cloud . In a quick glance you can get the vibe as to either what’s hot or what are the most frequently used phrases in a blog posting and identify the type of language and words audience use to talk about , and what they find interesting.

So go ahead and create your own buzz in the online media and leave your imprints.

  3. Social Media Blogging and Comments!!
For most of us blogging is a way to express our views, opinions, expressions about the day to day activities or something upon which we want throw light. Its a way to engage our content with others. But we never ponder too much about the comments which are posted by others on our blogs & vice-versa. And to be precise comment is the only thing which determines how worthy & successful our blog was.

These days when all of us are running short of time- we usually keep on posting our blogs without giving any thought to the comments. Blogs without comments is just like a tree without fruits. Second thing which needs attention is how you deal with the comments if they are present on your blog?

Presence of comments on blog shows the traffic intensity of the content. Large the number of comments more will be the traffic and more will be the publicity of the blog, opposite of this is a failure of blog.
Social media provides us a platform where we can engage with 'n' number of people, can do marketing of products/services, can know the opinions of others about the same thing, etc. In short, blogging is a way to do many types of businesses & personal tasks. And to utilize it at its best – we need to focus more on how to attract others to comment about our own blog? How to generate more comments? How to approach the comments posted by others?

Tips to increase number of comments on your blogs:-

Invite comments- It is a fact that inviting others to post comments on your blogs, allows other blogger & readers to comment more in comparison to not inviting. Invitation will bring more participation of new & existing readers.

Raise questions- Blog should allow readers to give a thought about what you have written. Allow them to ask questions about your blog. Also you should ask questions from readers so that they will respond you back.

Faster response- you should always response back on time to the comments of readers. This will increase their affinity more towards your all blogs, along with that they will get more inclined towards reading blogs.

Stay tuned- Sometimes we move away from the original content and this distract readers. So your blog should always be connected to your intent. Posting back to back on comments will increase thread length and allow other readers to comment.

Be humble- Always response back to comments in a humble & generous way. Don't use slang's & abusive words. No matter if someone is criticizing your blog, you should not respond them harshly. Rather accept it in a generous way that you were wrong onto something.

Keep your comment section simple & easy with less stringent rules. This doesn't mean that anyone can post comments but the rules should be easy. Explain your Comment policy in nice manner and whenever you change the policy update it.

Also in order to capitalize more comments- you can give Rewards to those readers whose comments is liked & appreciated by others. This will allow more and more readers to post their comment.

Apart from this, you should always handle the negative comments with full caution. Because those will be helpful in improving your blog, they will rectify if you are wrong onto something. Dealing badly with negative comments will produce negative aura of your blog, personality, brand, etc. Appreciation is something which everyone is looking forward for but to focus more on criticism will take you to the top. So, appreciate every nasty comment.

Never delete the negative comment rather try to solve the problem. Review it nicely – it could be blogspam, newbie or someone who is not versed with social media so treat them accordingly.

If you can come to an understanding where the commenter may be coming from than it would be great. Let him or her know that you understand. It is important to appear diplomatic rather than argumentative.

If the commenter was correcting you, thank them for catching it and taking the time to make a contribution to improve the post. Most of our every-day written accomplishments were created from collaboration and with the help of others. If the commenter was challenging your facts or figures, cite your sources. Let them know where you’re getting your information and cover your bases.

So – what do you think? How have you increased the levels of comments on your blog ?
Also if you have some tips to increase the comments on a blog, please comment us...

  4. Social Media Marketing via Mobile

The increasing penetration of mobile phones and launch of affordable smart phones has opened another platform of communication for marketers to speak to their customers. People are replacing laptops with smart phones for web browsing, chatting, social networking, blogging and emailing.

Chatting and messaging are slowly being buried in social networking world and has been replaced by updates and knowledge sharing of whatever the field a consumer is interested in. Smartphone apps are also contributing in enhancing communication experience.

The point to consider here is not how new technologies are affecting the marketplace, but rather stress should be laid on how to open new ways of connection between the marketer and the target consumer. I would say that mobile marketing is moreover a direct and face to face communication which helps in forming a strong bond, attracting new customers and retaining the old ones.

But combine utilization of social media and mobile; produces more effective and desirable results rather than using alone. Marketers should also take into consideration that the way of advertising and promoting brands is different everywhere. It was different when it used to be on Billboards, TV, Radio and it is different on social mediasites or web marketing, so it also takes a altered form when its going on mobile. Some points to be taken into account while mobile marketing -:

    1. Mobile accessible content – Ensure that the content should be accessible to mobile devices. Blackberry, iPhones and many smart phones are used to make business decisions while at the time when not present in office.

    2. Social networking functionality – Content sharing functionality on Twitter, LinkedIn and other sites should be optimized as per the mobile.

    3. Content creation – Short videos and blog posts would create more impact and would be easily readable than long content.

    4. Research and target – Research is the first step before making any decision; so do your homework and identify the target audience well, before jumping into mobile marketing wagon.

    5. SMS promotion – Short messaging service would be more economic and faster way to converse with the audience for a new brand.

There is no defined way to use social media into marketing; it has always been about how a marketer can make use of various tools and services of social media to send its message to the target market. The combination of mobile and social media marketing is another way which every marketer can use it in its own way.
