||The buzz around online media is getting more hype day by day because every second person is using the online media in one or the other way.
In this era of neck to neck competition ,one needs to be very keen about the market scenario if he/she wants to exist. Darwin’s Theory “Survival of the Fittest” is the basic need for any organisation to sustain in the market. They must know what are the current trends and what’s going to be the potential trends in the market. How they can convert the demands of customers into reality? What are the approaches through which they can imprint their digital footprints? So many questions and so many answers . But in my view the first and foremost thing which needs to be done is- You should be vigilant so as to monitor the market constantly and act accordingly.
Vigilant and Constantly be Monitoring-
Once you begin to listen to the conversation & have started monitoring what others are saying about you, it’s going to open up a whole new dialogue for your business. Here is one key finding: Internet users are becoming more aware of their Digital Footprints. About 45% have searched for information about themselves online . Even I did it to calculate the ratio of my name but I won’t disclosed the figures(poor one).. :-)
This is no more about Santa- naughty character. Half of the population present on internet is doing their own ego-surf to see what the score & count is. And while this may, indeed, be a simple vanity search, managing your personal & Company brand in the era of dominant social engines & our own desires to connect through social network is becoming a big challenge .
Unlike footprints left in the sand at the beach, the online data trails often stick around for a longer period of time even after the tide has gone out. For doing this there are tools , your task is to set a regular maneuver to keep on knowing what’s going on. You must be increasingly vigilant in your efforts & know what to look for & how to respond. Customer Service just went beyond the one to one connection & is now being played out online where interaction is live, hot , direct and most important in the public view -forever.
Google Alert & Technorati are the two tools to mark your digital footprints. But my preference is Technorati. While having your Watch-lists enabled to monitor what people are saying about you on the blog, Technorati also offers two other tools- Ranking & Authority.
Ranking- The rankings given by Technorati are based on an odd concoction of how websites & blogs link to a specific blog - the more links & references , the higher the rankings.
If you have a blog of your own, make sure you have claimed it in Technorati. But it doesn’t mean that you should only focus on higher-ranked blogs. It’s a way to know the size of your audience & to check your popularity.
Authority - It’s number of blogs clicking to a website in last 6 months. The higher the number, the more Technorati Authority the blog has.
And when you become more engaged in these conversations , you’ll observe 2 things-
1. As with its own algorithm, blog ranking is considered as an significant way to know your digital footprints. To use it more effectively, I would recommend to stay tuned on current & on who is connecting in Technorati.
2. It also uses Tag Clouds. By visualising the words that are used to create a piece of content you can calculate your presence. The more the frequency of word , more will be your cloud . In a quick glance you can get the vibe as to either what’s hot or what are the most frequently used phrases in a blog posting and identify the type of language and words audience use to talk about , and what they find interesting.
So go ahead and create your own buzz in the online media and leave your imprints.
