Discussion of the use of the Bank of Canada to reduce government debt. Prime Minister Mackenzie King nationalized the Bank of Canada in 1938. He knew what he was doing! Initially, the Bank was used on behalf of ALL Canadians, but in the 1970s that changed, and the control of the government money supply shifted from the public sector (where it rightfully belongs) to the private sector (where it doesn't). As King says, until this adverse shift is corrected "... all talk of the sovereignty of Parliament and of democracy is idle and futile."
